GENERAL MANAGER/HOCKEY DIRECTOR – BRAD PATTERSON

After growing up in Cranbrook, B.C (Canada), Brad played Div. 1 college hockey and graduated with a Management and Marketing Degree from Michigan Tech. After graduation he played professionally in the US, Italy and England. Eventually he set roots down in Youngstown while playing for the Youngstown Steelhounds.

Upon the completion of his playing career he transitioned immediately into coaching with the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL. He served as Assistant Coach for 6 years before leading the team as Head Coach for an additional 6 years. During that time he helped develop +275 NCAA Division 1 hockey players, and saw +30 Phantoms get drafted or sign contracts in the NHL.

Brad and his family (Holly-wife, Tucker-son, Maya-daughter) call Boardman, Ohio home.

Steve Taylor – 8U – ADM Blue

Steve grew up playing hockey in the Youngstown, Pittsburgh and Cleveland areas. He continued playing hockey and college lacrosse at the University of Toledo where he graduated with a degree in business management. He got into coaching to help out the 8U adm blue teams after his son finished little pens and joined the Jr Phantoms program. He has coached the last two seasons and is currently a level 2 coach. He is looking forward to coaching the 8U blue travel team this coming season.

Chris Huziak – 8U – ADM White

Chris joined the Youngstown Jr Phantoms in 2020 and has since become an active member as the Head Coach of 8U ADM White and a lead 8U ADM Blue Coach. He is also involved with the Pittsburgh Penguins as a Mite Development Coach and Co-Head coach for the Pittsburgh Penguins Select. Chris plays a key role in the coaching and organization of the Little Penguins Program at our rink. Chris also represents the Youngstown Jr Phantoms as our PAHL Coordinator in The Pittsburgh Amateur Hockey League. His passion for hockey has had a significant impact in our program and the broader hockey community.

Brad Patterson – 8U – ADM White

Brad played his youth and Jr A hockey years in Cranbrook, B.C.  He then played Div. 1 NCAA hockey at Michigan Tech.  After Graduation he played 7 years professionally throughout Europe and USA.  Upon retirement he moved into coaching here in the Valley with the USHL Phantoms, where he acted as Assistant Coach (6yrs), Head Coach (6yrs) and General Manager (2yrs).  He has helped develop 100’s of NCAA hockey players and 30+ NHL draft picks/players.  He is now the Director of Hockey and looks forward to growing the game and working with the local area “up and coming” players.

Dave Milush

Dave has been involved with the Youngstown Jr Phantoms Youth Hockey program since 2019.  He has coached within the organization at numerous levels including (8U) ADM blue and white, (10U) Squirt A and B, and (12U) Peewee A and B.  Dave is a level 4 certified coach through USA hockey and has been an instrumental part in the Little Penguins Learn to Play program since 2019.  His approach to development, fundamentals, team/player habits are assets to all players that he coaches.

Chris Plant

Chris currently plays in the Deep Freeze Adult Hockey League.  He coached at the 10U last season and we are thrilled to have him back again moving into 23-24.  He is a tremendous ambassador of our program, and it shows by how much the players and families respect his coaching and leadership values.

Zach Jones

Zach grew up as a Jr Phantom, playing from 8U all the way through 18AAA within the organization.  He then played college hockey locally with Youngstown State of ACHA.  Zach now gives back to our program at all levels and has been coaching for the past 3 years at the 8U level.  He has helped for many years with all programs and clinics at the Deep Freeze.  Zach’s skillset and knowledge of the game have been and will continue to be a great resource for all Jr Phantoms players.

Dennis Majors

Dennis played his youth hockey for the Batavia Ramparts, in Batavia New York.  He then played for Notre Dame High School and the Batavia Ice Devils, soon after graduation he started coaching as an instructor at Camp Wildwood in Bridgton, Maine.  Dennis has coached for numerous teams over the past couple of years and brings his kids a wealth of passion and experience to his teams.

Head Coach

Darren Schleuter

Darren will be leading our 12U Team for the 2023-2024 season.  Darren grew up playing in the Jr Phantoms program and finished his youth hockey career with seasons for Phantoms AAA, Pittsburgh Penguins AAA and Ohio Blue Jackets AAA programs.  He then made the jump to JR. A with the Wooster Oilers and Peoria Mustangs, before playing college hockey at Kent State.  He now is a staple in the Adult Hockey Leagues throughout our region. The addition of Darren to the JR Phantoms coaching staff provides our players a tremendous development and advancement resource.

Crawford Warrick

Crawford played for the Jr Phantoms Youth association from 8U – 14U, before playing at UM High School. Crawford has acted as Head Coach for numerous ages and teams within the Jr Phantoms program.  In addition he has also done private training for players spanning from 8U through Collegiate levels.  Crawford has been a steady presence in the hockey community for years and we look forward to many more.
